BALOO Training

The format for BALOO (Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation) is changing. The new format will include an outdoor overnight segment. The last chance to take BALOO training under the old oneday format will be at the University of Scouting, October 28, 2017. One BALOO trained leader is necessary for any Cub Scout Pack overnight outings.
Youth Protection

All registered leaders must have completed Youth Protection Training (YPT). New leaders must complete YPT or they will not be allowed to register. Current leaders must also complete YPT. Youth Protection Training is available on-line, and watch for a live “in-person” training (recommended) to be scheduled soon. Youth Protection Training needs to repeated every 2 years. A new enhanced, longer training will be available soon that will include additional topics such as Cyber Bullying.
All parents, registered leaders and youth should complete the appropriate level of training. As of September 1, 2017 all adults on outings of 72 hours or more must be registered and have completed Youth Protection Training.

Journey 2.0

Guidepost 4, all direct contact leaders are trained, is due October 31. Direct contact leaders includes Den Leaders, Webelos Leaders, Assistant Den and Webelos Leaders, Cub Masters, Scoutmasters, and Assistant Cub and Scoutmasters. Essentially anyone who has direct contact or involvement with youth. Check in with your Unit Commissioner on your unit’s training status. Remember, on time rechartering is also required to earn any level of Journey 2.0 recognition.
